Solitária is a digital media theatre performance that combines puppetry, acting and real-time digital media manipulation. The work explores the psychological and sensory effects of solitary confinement, following a prisoner’s progressive disorientation as the absence of light, space and human contact transforms his perception of the world. Using the puppeteer’s body as the main interface, sound and visual elements are generated and manipulated in real time, responding to the character’s movements, emotions and state of mind. Premiered at the Porto International Puppet Theatre Festival (FIMP) in 2019, Solitária has since been presented in several countries.
A production by Alma d'Arame, with interactive digital media concept and creation by Luís Grifu.
